Meet leading Hollywood stuntman and actor Steve Rizzo. A 2013 SAG Award nominee for the stunt work on “The Dark Knight Rises,” when not fearlessly executing jaw-dropping stunts as Jason O’Mara’s stunt double on the hit series “Vegas” or filming a scene on “Body of Proof” where he has a recurring role as “Frank,” Steve Rizzo is out to prove that age is only a number.
He is currently training to compete at the USA Track and Field Association Championships with his eye set on the World Masters Athletics Championships being held this October in Brazil. Here are Steve’s favorite places in America…
My favorite place in the U.S. to visit is…New York City. I was raised in the suburbs of Baltimore MD and then the Amish country of Lancaster PA, being exposed to NYC was something that just blew my mind. The smell of Chestnut roasting on the street carts in November to the sounds of the traffic hustling by. There isn’t anything you can’t do in NYC anytime of day. Weather it is eating your favorite cuisine or just exploring the city. There is something for everyone. You can even find peace and quiet in Central Park smack dab in the middle of the city. Fascinating!
The first thing I do when I go to New York City is…I find the nearest Hotdog cart closest to a Dunkin Donuts that is next to a pizza place. Then I load up, LOL
Everyone should visit…New York City…at least once. The food, the energy of the city. It’s like no other city in the world. If you have time to explore you can find all kinds of gems. My favorite places are the hole in the wall bar and grills. Some of the best food in the city, rich with character and history.
Hawaii…is a pleasant surprise. I worked in Hawaii not to long ago. Not my first choice of places to go. I’m not much of a hot weather person. Surprisingly, it wasn’t to hot. The people are great and the food is fantastic. It’s a very peaceful place as well.
My favorite restaurant in the U.S. is…The Corner Stables located in Cockysville MD. A suburb of Baltimore. The Corner Stables has been a staple in the Baltimore area for many years. Know to attract the major sports figures of the city. The best ribs you’ll ever have!
The best place to find…pizza is a place in Woodside, Queens, New York, call Pizza Boy. This is one of two restaurants they have, both of which are in Queens, New York. Pizza is pretty much a staple in NYC, but if you want the best, you have to go here. They say it’s the NYC water that makes the dough so good. Well they have that and so much more. Right off the 7 train at the Woodside Station.
A great town that people may not know about and should visit is…My hometown of Baltimore, MD is a great place to start. There is so much history there. Our country’s nation anthem was written here at Fort McHenry during the bombardment of the fort by the British Royal Navy in the Revolutionary war. Inner harbor is the newest tourist attraction, with it’s great restaurants and shops.
My other hometown of Lancaster, PA. Rich in history as the Amish have been there for well over 100 years. I lived in Amish country so I was exposed to a whole different kind of cuisine. Great down home cooking.
My favorite airport in the U.S. is…JFK. Subways run practically to the front doors, making it so easy to get in and out of, but mostly the Jet Blue terminal. Brand new with restaurants and shops galore.
