Celebrity Travel Spotlight: Framing Hanley

Ryan Belcher, lead guitarist of Framing Hanley, recently sat down with Cars Travel Food to do a Celebrity Travel Spotlight as the band has been playing coast-to-coast for the past 7 years.  They are currently on the road again supporting their new album “The Sum of How We are.” Here are some of his favorite places in America…

Ryan Belcher of Framing HanleyMy favorite place in the U.S. to visit isNorthern California, areas like Santa Rosa or anywhere north of there. Maybe it’s just because the cities where the shows are typically held are so much farther apart on the west coast, so you get more of those long drives through the countryside and more time to take it all in.

The first thing I do when I go to… Birmingham, AL is figure out when I’ll be able to visit Dreamland BBQ. The sauce is so good that they bring a bowl of it with a loaf of bread as an appetizer. There are places like that for me in a lot of cities; You have real green chili in Pueblo, CO, Voodoo Doughnuts in Portland, OR, Muddy Waters Coffee in Charleston, SC, The Chimes in Baton Rouge, LA, the list goes on… I love food and any place I can get good cocktails or coffees.

Everyone should visit … Anywhere!… at least once … Accustomed to Framing Hanley coverthe climate of Nashville, TN, anywhere in the desert is interesting to me but what I find to be particularly charming are places like the mountainous parts of Colorado where desert meets trees and you can see everything for miles. I’d recommend to anyone (who doesn’t live there) to make it out west at some point, just like I’d recommend anyone from anywhere to go someplace completely opposite of where they’re used to living, it really brings new perspective to how diverse the world really is.

Waking up not knowing where you are …is a pleasant surprise… or at least is can be. When you step off the bus and look around and see something that makes you remember that place it can be awesome.

My favorite restaurant in the U.S. is… probably Pinewood Social in Nashville, TN, their food and drinks are truly great. They serve breakfast, lunch, brunch, and dinner. There’s also a bowling alley… Otherwise, I love any place with fresh seafood, especially sushi…

The best place to find… the aforementioned green chili …is at… a little place in Pueblo, CO called The Pantry. It’s family owned and has been around for years. Huevos Rancheros with green chili made right is a hard find, but theirs is perfect.

A great town people may not know about that’s worth a visit… Santa Rosa, CA. Located in the heart of Sonoma valley, famous for its wine, the weather and scenery during the summer months are amazing.

Every truck stop is a great truck stop, it’s on… every interstate ever…and I love this place because…Youu can typically find something to snack on, you can always walk around and laugh at the t-shirts. Truck stops all blend together after a while, maybe thats why I feel like I’ve been to all of them lol.

My favorite airport in the US is…Probably Dallas, only because I’ve spend so much time drinking beer waiting for a connecting flight. Not to mention it’s massive…
