Celebrity Travel Spotlight: Comic J. Reid

Comedy veteran J. Reid has taken the comedy world by storm. Most recently, he’s been on Bill Bellamy’s sold out “Ladies Night Out” Comedy Tour. “Ladies Night Out” will also be featured as an upcoming comedy special on Showtime. As a comic, he’s always on the road, so he’s seen a lot of the U.S. Here are his favorite places in the country, including where to get the best pancakes…

My favorite place in the U.S. to visit…has to be Miami. I just love everything about that city the weather, the people, the architecture, and most importantly, the beaches. I’m from Las Vegas and all my life I have been surrounded by desert. When I finally went to Florida & seen how great the people are and how tropical it looks I just fell in love. If you do not like Miami you must wanna live on Mars.

The first thing I do when I go to Miami is...get naked and take a shower. By the time you get off the plane and get to your room you have probably sweated four gallons of water out of your body from the humidity. Not to mention you are gonna be funky and sticky all day.

I think that everyone should go to New Orleans at least one time in their life…I thought people in Vegas partied all night. In New Orleans they party 24 hours seven days a week. They even party at funerals in New Orleans. My family is from the south and what I love about the south is the southern hospitality. In New Orleans everyone will show you so much love and they are not afraid to cook you a meal in New Orleans. Anyone who knows me knows that I love to eat!

One place that I visited that turned out to be a pleasant surprise was…Salt Lake City, Utah. I went there to do a comedy show expecting to see only Mormons and the Caucasian race. I thought I was just going to go to my room and read my bible like everyone else. I ended up having the time of my life with 2 Chinese people & 3 Mexicans. So if you ever go to Salt Lake City party with the Mexicans at your own risk you will be sick the next morning.

My favorite restaurant in the U.S. is…Silvia’s Soul food restaurant in New York. I was raised on soul food and they make everything great there. Anytime I step foot in New York I have to go there & put some of their catfish in my stomach, it’s to die for.

The best place to find…pancakes is The Pancake Pantry in Nashville, TN. I love pancakes and when I was there I had the best pancake that I ever had in my life, the Georgia peach pancake. The food is so good that there is always at least a two hour wait just to sit down at that place. But trust me it is worth the wait.

Some great towns that people may not know about are…Indianapolis and Columbus, OH. There are great people in those towns and a lot of great things to see.

I’m not a big fan of road trips I would rather fly. I really can’t sit in a car for more than two hours because if I do, I’m going to get an attitude with whoever is in the car with me. And please don’t let me have to take the Greyhound. I really won’t be a happy camper on that trip.

My favorite airport in the U.S. has to be…McCarran Airport in Las Vegas, ’cause every time I land I know that I’m about to get the chance to kiss my beautiful family one more time after a hard weekend of work.

If you have the chance to travel and see the world, make sure you take full advantage of it. You just never know who you will meet or what you may learn. That is the beauty of life it’s so unpredictable.
